1/28 What is Neurodiversity?

For our new members we will hold our bi annual meeting that explores the question: "What is Neurodiversity?"

Too often, the conversation starts and ends with ADHD or autism. But neurodivergence also includes conditions like epilepsy, POTS, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), migraine, Tourette’s, dyslexia, OCD, traumatic brain injury, seizure disorders, chronic fatigue, and other neurocognitive or neuroimmune conditions that shape how the brain processes information, emotion, and the body itself.

We’ll discuss:

  • What qualifies as neurodivergence — and why definitions matter

  • How different neurological and chronic conditions intersect and overlap

  • The shared experiences of overstimulation, fatigue, and cognitive fluctuation

  • How the “neurodiversity movement” can be more inclusive of medical and chronic-illness identities

  • Why visibility for less-recognized neurotypes (like epilepsy and dysautonomia) is essential for real advocacy
